Media Advisory: Maryland Advocates Demand Voting Rights For All in Annapolis

[Annapolis, MD] – On Tuesday, February 11 at 1:00pm EST, advocates from ACLU of Maryland, Campaign Legal Center, Common Cause Maryland, Expand the Ballot Coalition, League of Women Voters Maryland, Life After Release, Maryland Justice Project, Maryland Restorative Justice Initiative, Out for Justice, H.O.P.E. Baltimore, and The Sentencing Project will testify in support of the Voting Rights for All Act (House Bill 710) in front of the House Committee on Ways and Means. The bill would restore voting rights to people currently incarcerated under a felony conviction. A recent brief from The Sentencing Project found over 16,000 Marylanders are currently banned from voting while serving a sentence for a felony conviction.
