All of us are taking precautions to protect ourselves and our loved ones from the threats posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Overcrowded and unsanitary conditions, and an inability to control surroundings and distance from others, create heightened health risks for our friends and family in jails and prisons.

The Sentencing Project and our allies held an important advocacy conversation on the legislative response to the COVID-19 emergency so we can ensure the lives of incarcerated people are protected.

Speakers:

Congresswoman Karen Bass, U.S. House of Representatives

Kara Gotsch, The Sentencing Project

Ahmadou Drame, Safer Foundation

Patricia Richman, Federal Public and Community Defenders

Sakira Cook, Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights
